I was born in Hamburg and my childhood was shaped by Post War Germany. It was a time of poverty and survival. Shops were empty. Toys were mainly handmade or old. But what do you do when there is nothing? If you can’t get it, make it! So I made my own toys. I have always kept this attitude that nurtures my creative spirit and fuels my imagination. Anything is possible at your unique wedding day.
As a native German speaker I can perform a wedding ceremony solely in the German language and I am able to read and understand any legal German document. Therefore you don’t need to have your documents translated for me. My father struggled to build up his own business and we children all had to help. The family became the firm, the firm became the family and the customers became the kings. Office/Secretarial work, responsibility and high quality Customer Service have been implanted in me since.
Our parents believed that there is much more to learning than what school had to offer therefore they sent us girls to acting school to gain more confidence for better communication and to finishing school to learn elegance, etiquette, refined manners and to strive for perfection. I still can hear my dad saying: “You should be able to be at your best and at ease at a beggars hut as well as at the Palace of the Chinese Emperor”. I think by now I have achieved that.
I married very young and in 1968 my only daughter was born. That miracle forced me to reflect about life, its purpose and responsibilities. I went back to study at Hamburg University and achieved a BA in Education, a BA in Theology and a degree in Psychology. I trained as a Primary School Teacher but finally worked as a High School Teacher with the subjects German, English, History, Art, Craft and Religious Studies. When we migrated to Australia in 1984 I was privileged to study Art, Photography, Design and Computer Skills at TAFE. It is my love and my passion to be creative. My creativity can help you to bring your wedding ideas to reality.
Working as a grief counsellor and being with Home Care for a while gave me more skills to be a sensitive listener and a caring person. My organisational skills are versatile and excellent. I had lots of opportunities to prove that as the coordinator of a community centre and as a teacher back in Germany where I organised many trips and events . I am sure all that contributed to my becoming an optimistic world citizen, who loves to communicate with people from all walks of life. But most of all my passion for the energy we call LOVE makes me a dedicated Civil Marriage Celebrant.
